A group of British musicians has voiced concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create unauthorized deepfake representations of their voices and images. Prominent artists, including Jess Glynne, Mumford and Sons, Sam Smith, and Zayn Malik, have supported an open letter that calls for increased protection against what they view as a misuse of their artistic identities by AI technologies. This has prompted the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Music to propose new legal frameworks to safeguard artists.

The parliamentary group has recommended that the government introduce a specific personality right to protect artists from the misappropriation and false endorsement of their personas via AI.
